Our person-centered supported living services for our service users are designed to help each of them with their transition into independent living while receiving care and support tailored to their needs. These services can be especially beneficial for individuals who may have learning disabilities, mental health issues, or those leaving care. The main key care services provided by supported living businesses for this age group include:

Accommodation and Housing Support

  • Independent Living Spaces: Supported living businesses provide young people with safe, affordable, and independent accommodation. This can include shared flats, individual apartments, or supported housing.

  • Tenancy Support: Help with understanding tenancy agreements, paying rent, and managing housing responsibilities. This ensures young people maintain stable housing and do not face issues such as eviction.

Health and Well-being Support

  • Support with health appointments and maintaining overall health. This may also include mental health support.

  • Incorporate a healthy lifestyle, by signing to gym mentorships, regular exercise etc.

  • Sign posted to health clinics if there are any health concerns.

Life Skills Development

  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Training on how to manage money, create a budget, and handle bills to ensure financial independence.

  • Cooking and Nutrition: Teaching young people how to prepare meals and maintain a healthy diet.

  • Time Management: Helping young people structure their day and manage their time effectively.

Education and Employment Support

  • Educational Support: Guidance on continuing education, such as college, apprenticeships, or training programs. This may involve help with applications, enrollment, and studying.

  • Employment Preparation: Assistance with job search, creating CVs, interview preparation, and access to vocational training or internships.

  • Inhouse workshops

Access to Specialist Services

  • Disability Support: For young people with learning disabilities or physical disabilities, services are tailored to their specific needs, providing extra care and support.

  • Support for Young Parents: If a young person is a parent, additional services can be offered to help them care for their child and balance their responsibilities

Social and Emotional Support

  • Mental Health and Emotional Well-being: Providing counselling and mental health services, addressing emotional needs, and supporting young people with managing stress, anxiety, or other mental health challenges.

  • Building Social Skills: Encouraging social interaction and helping young people develop positive relationships with peers and the community.

  • Regular wellbeing sessions (workshop, personal care)

  • Implement prevention program to increase awareness.

Mentorship and Advocacy

  • One-on-one Mentoring: Providing a mentor to help the young person navigate challenges, set goals, and offer guidance.

  • Advocacy: Helping young people advocate for their rights and ensuring they have a voice in decisions that affect them, particularly when engaging with other services or professionals.

Community Integration

  • Engagement with Local Communities: Encouraging participation in community activities, sports, clubs, and social groups to help integrate the young person into society.

  • Volunteering and Social Responsibility: Opportunities for volunteering or engaging in community-based activities, which can build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging.

Transition Support Plan into Independent Living

  • Moving from Care to Independence: For young people who have been in foster care, residential care, or under local authority care, supported living services help with the transition to independent living. This often involves a gradual process where support is reduced over time as the young person gains more independence.

  • Family Support: If appropriate, supported living services may work with the young person’s family to ensure they are involved in the transition process.

24/7 Availability (Depending on Need)

  • On-call Support: Some supported living services offer 24-hour support, ensuring that help is available when required. This is particularly important for young people who may need urgent assistance or emotional support during the night.
